Ashley Reed-Miller

Alexa Ybarra is the co-founder of Novum Academy, bringing over 15 years of experience shaping innovative learning environments. Her work as an educator, school counselor, Montessori director, and clinical mental health professional drives a bold vision for education—creating spaces where children are seen, supported, and empowered to reach their highest potential.


Drawing on her deep expertise in child development and social-emotional learning, Alexa has dedicated her career to helping children grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Her unwavering commitment to students and her community has earned national recognition, including the Phillips 66 Heroes Award, honoring her outstanding contributions to education and public service.


Committed to transforming the school experience, Alexa co-founded Novum Academy to blend Montessori principles with modern strategies, fostering independence, curiosity, and confidence while cultivating a learning community where students thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.


Alexa holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, an M.A. in Human Services Counseling with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy, and an M.Ed. in Counseling.

Ashley Reed-Miller

Ashley Reed-Miller is the co-founder of Novum Academy, bringing 18 years of experience supporting children and families as an educator, caregiver, and advocate. Her diverse background includes professional nannying, teaching immersive ESL, serving as a Montessori guide assistant, supporting young families experiencing homelessness through nonprofit work, and working as a Montessori school assistant director.


Deeply committed to human services and education, Ashley creates meaningful experiences that nurture children and support families at every stage. Her holistic approach combines practical caregiving, educational guidance, and community advocacy, ensuring every child feels seen, valued, and empowered.


Ashley envisions Novum Academy as a high-quality learning environment where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and connect with the world. The school is rooted in Montessori principles, relationship-based care, and a dedication to cultivating a kind, connected, inclusive, and globally-minded community.


Ashley holds a B.A.S. in Human Services - Sociology and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education – Humanities.

Novum Academy is an emerging educational community founded on the belief that exceptional education is built through care, trust, and high standards. As we prepare to launch, our vision is to deliver high-quality learning aligned with both Montessori Methods and TEKS educational standards, while striving to exceed all state licensing requirements.


Co-founded by two mothers passionate about education and public service, Novum Academy is shaped by a deep understanding of what children, families, and educators need to thrive. At Novum Academy we are committed to creating a nurturing, values-driven environment where students are challenged and supported, parents feel confident leaving their children in our care, and educators are treated with respect, admiration, and professional support. 


Built on a foundation of strong values and shared responsibility, Novum Academy seeks to empower its students, support its families and staff, and contribute meaningfully to Amarillo and the broader global community.
