The Novum Academy Preschool Program serves children ages 2.5 to 3 years and is a true Montessori environment designed to foster independence, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning. In this classroom, children are encouraged to explore, make choices, and engage deeply with purposeful activities. The program emphasizes practical life skills, sensorial experiences, early math, language, and cultural studies, all presented through Montessori materials that support self-directed learning.
Guides observe and support each child individually, helping them grow confidence, problem-solving abilities, and social-emotional skills while participating in a small classroom community.
In our Preschool Program, we provide gentle, supportive, and positive guidance for toilet learning, honoring each child’s individual pace and readiness. Guides encourage independence by allowing children to participate in every step of the process—from recognizing the need, to using the bathroom, to washing hands—while offering reassurance and consistent support. Our approach emphasizes confidence, respect, and autonomy, helping children develop self-care skills in a calm, encouraging environment that aligns with Montessori principles.
The preschool classroom is carefully arranged according to Montessori principles, with child-sized furniture, low shelves, and thoughtfully selected materials within easy reach. Activities are purposeful and developmentally appropriate, designed to strengthen concentration, coordination, independence, and practical life skills.
Areas for practical life, sensorial work, early math, language, art, and cultural exploration are balanced with spaces for quiet reflection and collaborative work. Materials are beautiful, intentional, and engaging, inviting children to choose, work with, and return each item responsibly.
As students grow in the preschool classroom, they begin to become more familiar with traditional Montessori work, materials, and routines, learning how to engage with the environment independently and with confidence. This prepared environment nurtures curiosity, independence, and self-assurance while fostering a sense of order and respect for the classroom community.
As children near the end of the preschool program, guides focus on preparing them for the Montessori Primary classroom (ages 3–6) by gradually supporting longer attention spans, more complex practical life tasks, and deeper engagement with Montessori materials. Children practice greater independence in self-care, care of the environment, and social interactions, while also developing early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
Group activities, grace and courtesy lessons, and collaborative projects help children build cooperation, responsibility, and confidence in community participation. By strengthening these skills in a supportive and prepared environment, children transition smoothly into the Montessori Primary classroom, ready to continue their journey of self-directed learning and exploration. .
